Monthly Summary for October 2008

Monthly South Texas Section News Summary
We've really had our share of Hurricane damage this year. Dolly moved up the valley, then Ike came into Galveston tearing up everything in its path. They are still doing a lot of cleanup and rebuilding in the Galveston area. Ham radio played a big part in both of these Hurricanes. We helped the Texas Maritime Regiment, part of the Texas Military Forces, by providing communications for them. We've been ask to help them in future disasters any where in Texas. This is something that all Section Managers and Section Emergency Coordinators will be working on. This will take several hams to fill the needs as they have been explained to me. I want to thank all that worked so hard during these storms. We were able to use 3 jump kits from ARRL HQ. It was a great idea for the ARRL to supply jump kits for the field. We are moving forward in a positive way.
I hope that everyone will be able to find something to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. Don't forget, you stuff the turkey the night before, and then the turkey will stuff you on Thanksgiving. Have a great Thanksgiving.
God Bless America and our Troops.
